Crowd Sourcing Social Change

We’ve all heard "it takes a village to raise a child." But why stop there? Why not apply this philosophy to everything we do to make our communities stronger, better, healthier?

Where's the village when disasters strike, education systems fail, economies fall out from under us? Instead of calling on the village, we tend to shove the responsibility onto the shoulders of a select few, perhaps a charity, a school,
a relief organization, but rarely a community. Is it that the village doesn't exist? It's not interested in helping? Or is it that we're not listening?

In this week's #smchat, let's explore what opportunities social media provide for us to crowd source social change.
With that in mind, here are some other questions for us to consider:

- What role can/should social media play?

- Does crowd sourcing really connect nonprofits and changemakers?

- Any favorite tools to enable crowd sourcing/facilitate engagement?
