The Power of Social Media

Q21 What SM tactics have you implemented, how did they work? how have you measured results?

On #smchat we spend a lot of time discussing theory, but next week on Sept. 30, 2009 we'll be discussing the basics of implementation. Specifically we'll be sharing examples of social media tactics you have used.

As we've often discussed, social media should be goal driven. We need to begin with a plan on what we want to accomplish, identify our target audience, create a strategy, then implement the tactics.

I've written a framing blog entry, Goal-driven social media strategies & tactics: how are you inte... that offers further examples.

For the purpose of the discussion I'll break down the questions as follows:

Q21A (15 min) Quickly share 1 or 2 goals you've had for social media. (Increase brand recognitions, sell product, monitor your brand, customer service.) This will give us the context to understand your strategies.

Q21B Give examples of strategies and tactics you have used to achieve these goals.

Q21C How did the campaigns were out? Were you successful? How did you measure that success? Were your measurements qualitative? Quantitative? Was there a clear ROI?

If there is anything else you think we should cover in this discussion, please post your suggestions below. And of course after the discussion wraps up you can continue to share your experiences and examples here as well.

Thanks everyone for a great #smchat today. I'll review and post the transcript later today and try to summarize some of the highlights here. If you have more examples of goals, strategies, tactics and measurement techniques you have used, please feel free to add them here also.

Additionally if you are using a blog, Facebook page or something else you would like to share as an example (or to encourage people to subscribe/fan please add that too.) For example:

I blog about Web related issues such as content, HTML, SEO, social media, writing, etc. at my Web Development Blog and share one tip per day on my Facebook page.

Looking forward to your feedback!
